About

Medusa_Headpiece_6Welcome Bloggers! Thanks for having a look at my blog.

I’m Tania, I work in retail for ZSL London Zoo and although I am glad to be contributing to animal conservation around the world, my true passion is creativity. This can be in many forms and I like to discover new things through experience and experimentation. I studied art at Norwich School of Art and I have been lucky enough to travel the world. I took a lot of photographs although I didn’t have a good camera back then. Nowadays I use my phone a lot to capture things which inspire me. I do have a Nikon for when I have more time to focus on the project I’m doing.

I hope this will be an easy way of sharing with you my exploration of the visual world through my photographs and artwork. I have recently had a few commissions for Wedding cards which I really enjoyed doing and I have been printing canvas bags with my Angel drawings.

If you’d like to get in contact it’d be great to hear from you either here or email taniajessicasmith@gmail.com.

🙂

  4. Hi dear Tania, first of all, Thank you for visiting my blog, that I have met with you. I am so glad to meet with you. 5. Thanks Tania for passing by my blog. And thanks for sharing your photos. Love the sunset at the delta and I look forward to your future blogs! Cheers from Holland ….Joel

    • Yes! The NHM is an amazing building, great museum and an organisation responsible for some incredible research around the globe. And yes! I took that header shot. I bought these really cheap face-paints that had this horrible shiny effect on the skin but once I’d finished painting my face and started taking shots I actually liked this sweaty, raw look in a way. I had to take a lot of pics to get the focus and compositions right but that’s the beauty of digital photography. I love how some of them turned out, glad you like it too! Thanks 🙂 Tan

      • I was just thinking that a lot of people will only maybe visit the NMH once in their lives, and it’s a great experience, but you get to go in there every day!

I can imagine you would take a lot of shots to get that amazing one in your header picture. It’s not easy taking photos of yourself, quite apart from anything else. I used to have face paints like that as a child and loved drawing all over myself but never anything quite that magnificent! It’s incredibly striking and like nothing else I’ve seen on any other blog.

  6. Glad you stopped by on my Blog otherwise I may not have discovered you. So I have clicked the follow for more great images and stories. That dog you are cradling looks suspiciously like our head of security ‘Buster’ If you click on my profile pic you can scrll to see my canine team.

    Scott

    • Hi Scott, I am 100% happy to receive this award from you!! Thank you so much for choosing to nominate me, it really means a lot that you think me worthy of it 🙂 I have not had much time to do my tasks and show my appreciation for a few awards now so I had better get my act together!! I am new to all this still and a bit disorganised! Haha.

Thank you for appreciating me and my photos, you are very kind 🙂

      Tan

  8. Hi I just wanted to thank you for following my blog. It’s much appreciated. I can’t believe how much traveling you’ve done and ended up in Blighty!!! I shall follow too, I love your photos and you’re a dog lover so hey ho, there you go!!! I’m challenging myself to a photo (or10 a day!!) the hardest part is choosing just a couple!! I just wish I were more disciplined! I look forward to your next posts. Thanks again.

    • You are most welcome, I very much enjoy your photography! I know, I know, why am I in Blighty?!? Well I suppose it has it’s own charm and there are some people close to my heart who are here but to have seen such amazing sights is such a gift, only now I always want to see more! Haha. A bit of sunshine at least 😉 Looking forward to seeing more of your visions too, take care, Tan 🙂

  9. Hi Tania, thank you for liking my blog post. You have so many beautiful photographs, many made me smile, the donkeys with rocket packs made me giggle! And that teddy bear dress is cute, when I first saw that on the playground picture as I was scrolling down I was like “wait, wut!?” It’s great when people see things all around them to inspire their creativity, I think I go through little phases of it, so I hope you continue to do that even if you current work probably doesn’t encourage it that much. Brian.

    • Thanks Brian, I really appreciate your comments. Sometimes I do find it hard to feel creatively fulfilled in my current job but actually doing this blog is making me more conscious of using my ‘eye’ to see more than just the hundreds of school kids throwing bouncy balls across the shop floor and be inspired by the colours, textures and beauty all around me and savour each moment of visual bliss, however transitional it may be, because it makes me happy to do so. When creative ideas emerge it gives me such a buzz…a very exciting sensation – the desire to make something happen, to realise a concept – is irresistible! Worth actively taking the responsibility to encourage it within yourself even when you are going through an uninspired phase – which I think we all go through from time-to-time 🙂 Tan

    • Thank you so much for this accolade! Much appreciated!! I will address this as soon as I can…..off to Portugal Sunday woo hoo! First trip all on my lonesome – only 5 days mind but can’t wait for that sand between my toes!! Thanks again for thinking me worthy 🙂 🙂

  19. Hello Tania! Thanks for checking out my blog! I was just in Europe for the first time, and before I left on my trip I created my blog for family and friends to follow me. What kind of photo gear do you use?

    • Hi Jim! I love your idea for keeping those nearest and dearest up-to-date with your adventures – awesome!! I now have a Nikon D60 which is really great and easy to use for a novice like me. My travelling photos are predominantly with just a little Samsung digital I had back then so the quality is lacking a bit even though the subjects are pretty cool!! Thanks for dropping by 🙂 Good luck on your travels!

  20. • Hi Paul! Ah thank you so much for this – I only just read it as my laptop has died and I have to take it to a shop to recover all my photographs off it…..I hope they can do it! I should have put them all in online storage! You live and learn. I am also without photoshop for now so I haven’t been able to play with new images to post. Anyway, I’ll be back on it as soon as I can and messages like this are so encouraging!! What is your instagram name? I’m so happy to hear that my liking your images is inspiring you to keep snapping – even with a mobile it is just great to explore photography any way you can…..you will love having a dslr though!
